Handsome Monk came to MVHR from the United States Forest Service. Due to a bone chip in his knee, Monk was no longer useable and at risk of being sold at auction. MVHR, with the help of a generous local sponsor, is exploring options for keeping Monk as comfortable as possible. The bone chip has been in his knee for some time now, doing damage to the joint and soft tissues, so many different treatments are being considered and tried. In the meantime, Monk, who never met a mare in his many years with the US government (they use only geldings) is enjoying life with a little harem of his own. When he's chasing his mares, that knee hardly bothers him a bit!
