Ranch Hand
Year-Round Part Time (15 hours/week) $18-20/DOE
MVHR is seeking a hard working, self motivated individual to help with basic daily care of the horses and ranch. Primary duties will be mucking corrals and stalls, watering and haying horses. Other duties may include: basic horse handling (ie. moving horses to and from pasture or assisting farrier, vet or trainer); supporting volunteers who are assisting with basic chores at the ranch; assisting the Director of Maintenance with projects and repairs. Schedule will include work on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Horse Trainer
Year Round, Part Time - Full Time (10-40 hours/week) $18-25/DOE
MVHR is looking for an experienced horse person who is willing to approach a wide variety of horses (stages of training, ages, backgrounds, and histories) with compassion and firm, fair training methods. MVHR works to give each horse that comes into our care a solid foundation from which they can successfully interact with people throughout the rest of their lives. All disciplines considered and welcomed with overarching philosophy and work ethic of utmost importance. Ideal candidate also has outstanding people skills, allowing them to work with a team of fellow staff as well as potential adopters and the general public.
Program Assistant
Part Time (up to 18 hours/week) with Opportunity for growth into more full time work $19-23/DOE
MVHR is seeking an outstanding individual with horse experience and knowledge, and a passion for sharing it. Individuals would be assisting with and eventually facilitating day programs at MVHR for a wide variety of participants (ages and experience levels) and sharing varied curriculum from basic horse interactions through horsemanship instruction and possibly riding lessons. Outstanding people skills are a must, in order to successfully interact with a variety of program participants, fellow staff members, volunteers and the general public.

Junior Camp Counselor Internships for Summer
We are looking for teens, 12 to 15 years old, who are looking to gain horse experience and to enhance their skillset with both horses and supervising children. This is an unpaid/volunteer internship for the Summer Day Camps with a flexible schedule between June 9 - August 6. You get to experience the day to day of running a horse rescue and summer camp. This position is available to teens in Eagle and Routt County.
If you have attended MVHR camp before, this might be perfect for you, but is an opportunity open to anyone who has a love for horses. Transportation from Wolcott or Yampa with the Summer Camp Van is possible. This role does not need to be full time, and any number of days of help from a multiple of teens is accepted.
