MVHR Journeys of Hope...these are the Horses You Helped in 2025
As we wrap up our 20th year of helping horses, we are excited to share that it has been another record year for MVHR’s Journeys of Hope. With 31 adoptions finalized and 74 horses cared for throughout the year, it is MVHR’s biggest year yet! Foundations laid in previous years, in the ground of the ranch, in Robin’s Nest, and the newly remodeled ICU & Quarantine Barn, make these Journeys of Hope possible. And thank goodness, because MVHR continued to see the number of at-risk horses in need fill our corrals and our waiting list.
Some 2025 Adoption highlights include:
Daisy, who came to MVHR emaciated, and left a few months later, fat and happy with a little girl of her own and is now out riding the range!
Rocky, Dakota & Rusty, older gentlemen from different walks of life, who became fast friends on their recovery journey and now share a phenomenal adoptive home where they are the Christmas Card cover ponies!
Archer & Patron who each came from neglect situations, but found each other and now have a home and future in a performance horse barn where they are learning all there is to know!
Cheech, whose life brought him all around the country as a race and performance horse before he came to MVHR, and who now finally has a person of his own for the rest of his life.
Sweet Pete & Wilma who came together as part of a neglect case, and recovered quickly at MVHR to each find their own homes where they are now loved and spoiled and will not have to know uncertainty ever again.
As we head into the New Year with 37 horses in our care, all who are looking for their own people, we’d like to share just a few…
Frankie, who came to MVHR when her owner passed away, is about as sweet and gentle a riding horse as you could hope to meet.
Darcy, whose days on the track were impressive, and is now looking forward to life as a magnificent ground work companion.
Golie, who is learning to trust humans again after a fearful past, and wants nothing more than to connect with a person of his very own that he knows he can trust.
And Misty, Barbie, Buggs & Pippi, who round out the neglect case that came to MVHR in Spring of 2025. Their journey back to trusting people continues, and with ongoing training and handling they too will be ready for a next chapter where they can be confident that love and care will always abound.
These, and each of the other amazing horses in the MVHR herd defy the stereotype of the “rescue” horse that has little left, and reminds us how important our work is. To help horses who simply need time and space to make a transition to a new and wonderful life full of safety, love and opportunity.
In 2026, MVHR will continue to care for more horses, by giving them that space to make their Journey of Hope to a new life. And then we will welcome those who are next…
But we need YOUR help to make it all possible. To change the life of a horse, to give them an opportunity at Hope when their owners no longer can.
